Nutrition is a cornerstone of health, yet our food system uses more natural resources than necessary. Worldwide, approximately 14% of all emissions are linked to our food. At the same time, around 40% of all food produced is discarded before it is eaten.
We find this figure staggering. This waste generates unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions in one part of the world, while people in other parts face hunger. It also means that we could reduce our environmental impact by several percentage points without sacrificing prosperity or convenience.
We do not seek to claim the moral high ground: our own business also contributes to emissions. But with far more than money at stake, the question is: what overall outcome do we ultimately want to work towards?

The good news is: We can readily influence the way we handle food. Let us work together to prevent unnecessary food waste. Sometimes even small changes make a difference — we simply need to be willing to rethink wasteful habits and accept occasional gaps in product availability.
Through careful planning and proactive stock management, we consistently keep the amount we have to discard below 1% of our total volume. Wherever possible, we also put these small remaining quantities to good use, for example through donations.
This is undoubtedly a very small step. Yet maintaining this low level of waste is only possible through mutual consideration and a trusting partnership with you.
